Economy’s new ground

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

At the moment we are in the middle of the severest global economic crisis in the post-war period, the Peak Oil has been exceeded and the experts warn for an even worse recession, caused by a shortage of crude oil. The massive increase of the crude oil price which is to be expected will force us to necessarily change our resource consumption.

Abundandly clear the past weeks and months have shown the importance of the extension of renewable energy and in particular of renewable resources. The gas crisis between Russia and Ukraine has shown once more our dependency on Russian crude oil. We urgently need alternatives to the Russian crude oil.

In spite of the present price decrease for crude oil and therefore for domestic fuel oil aswell, in the long run an increase has to be faced. We want the global economic crisis to be overcome as quickly as possible, contrariwise causing the oil price to increase. The gas price is extremely high anyway due to the delay of the increase of the oil price and many consumers suffer from high additional payments for heating costs.

Also the subject of climate protection is unchangedly important, even when it doesn’t play such a big role as it did for one or two years. We cannot override the physical laws merely by having less interest in the subject. When we don’t countersteer urgently, our children and grandchildren will have to bear dramatic results. Therefore the extension of renewable energy and the improvement of the energy efficiency are indispensable.
